How can I recover a white glazed brick fireplace?

Blair: I have a large fireplace in the livingroom. The rest of the main floor has been updated and now the out-of-date decor on the fireplace really stands out. The brick surface is white with a glassy glazed coating. I don’t really want to tear the brick off the fireplace. Is there a way to prep the surface so dry wall or tile can be glued to the surface? Any other ideas on how we could alter the look of this fireplace while keeping in mind that it is still used through the winter months?Dave There are several options you can use in this situation.
